Discussion for Outlander

Here is a thread where you can post your comments, questions, etc. about the first book in the series - Outlander.

Please be careful about spoilers and if you intend to discuss anything that might be considered a big spoiler please make sure you put that in your comment first and then leave a space before you continue with your post to give people who do not wish to read about spoilers a chance to click away before they read anything that might spoil something for them before they get to that part.

Other than that be courteous and have a great time with it, and happy reading! :)

Just finished Outlander the other day - here is my post (not too detailed because really, where do you even begin): http://reviewfromhere.com/?p=624

I do know that this book is going to be hard to beat - time to go out and get the rest of the series!

This book got me hooked when I first read it years ago. The concept of going back in time, as the 20th century me, and being forced to survive in such a different world? Walking the line between witchcraft and knowledge, especially as an educated woman? My imagination ran amok! I credit this book with giving me the inspiration to imagine all sorts of wonderful scenarios!

(verification word: cluskins. Sounds Gaelic! :) )

I wrote a little review of Outlander on my blog ( http://pattepoilue.blogspot.com/2010/01/review-outlander-or-how-diana-gabaldon.html) I just loved it. This will be a reread!

I finished Outland two weeks about and had to buy the next two immediately. The only other book series I have been so hooked to was that Twilight series and now I have to say even though I love Edward. Jamie beat him by far. He is an amazing character and while reading the story in first person as Claire you can't help but for in love with him also and feel the love, and the sadness wrapped in a amazing series of passion.

I guess this is where we leave our progress reports for the individual books. Finished about oh, three weeks ago or so. Have had a lot going on and didn't have time to report in. I am currently probably about 3/4 the way through Dragonfly in Amber. You guys know these books are darn addictive and make it hard for me to go to sleep at night or do anything else for that matter, right? :)

Hi Stephanie I'm so glad that you enjoyed it more this time around. It's one of those stories that never gets old to me. I could read it a dozen times and get something new out of it that I didn't notice the other times. DG has such a great depth of writing and characterization she's truly amazing isn't she.
