Hello everyone well we have made it to the hot summer months and the challenge is still going strong we now have 69 partakers in the joys of the Outlander Series YAY!!! I wanted to say a big heartfelt welcome to all the new participants you are all now listed on the participants list. :) I do hope everyone is enjoying the series so far don't be a stranger come back and comment on the posts and discussions about the books with other challenge members! :)

And I have a question for everyone what has been your favorite characters and storylines so far in the series?

New Finish Date - Challenge updated!

All of the participants are now listed on the challenge list. Sorry I was behind again I tend to be apologizing a lot lately forgive me for that. But it is all up to date now and I want to shout out a big welcome to all those who have recently signed up! We are glad to have you join us! :)

Ok I have heard from several people that would really like to see this challange extended a bit because the books are so large. So I have made an executive decision and the Challenge will now end on Jan. 31, 2011 I hope this helps some of you to complete the challenge with a little less stress. :) And I will say it will help me as well I'm still on Outlander and I'm hosting the challenge LOL this year has been crazy busy so I totally understand how RL can wreck one's reading time. So we all have a few more months to complete it! AND we now are at 59 participants YAY but let's see if we can get some buddies to join in and get it over 60 that would be awesome! I do hope you all are enjoying the adventures of Jamie and Claire so far!

We just hit 55 participants woohooo! Thank you to all the newbies who have signed up since the last update. I have everyone added to the list that wanted to sign up now. :) Welcome to the challenge and I hope you enjoy the books! Don't forget to come back and tell us about your progress and get your achievement badges for your blogs when you finish each book. :)

Now there have been several asking questions and I would like to try to answer those here...

Q- Is it to late to join? A- No not at all this challenge runs through Nov. 17th of this year. But I am seriously considering extending this to Jan. of 2011. I would like some feedback from the current participants on this if i can get even 5 that want me to extend it to Jan I'll go ahead and make that change. That will give everyone a few more months because lets face it even as good as they are they are big books I know and that would be a little bit longer for everyone. :)

Q- I have read the first book recently can I count that towards the challenge and start from there. A- As far as I'm concerned if you already read the first one or first ones within the last 6 months and want to go from there to finish up the challenge... I think that is fine. Jump on in and enjoy the rest of the series with us!

If anyone else has any other questions please don't hesitate to ask! :) And everyone please join in the discussions on the series as well if you have time.

YAY!!!!!!!! We are now over the 45 mark in challenge participants! This is so wonderful I can't say how happy this has made me. I know these books are rather large (but once you start them you can't stop and they fly by) so I am more than pleased with this turn out! Best of luck to you all and I hope you really enjoy the books. :)

A few of you have already notified me that you have finished Outlander and are on to Dragonfly woohoooo!!!!!!! HUGE congrats I love to hear what you all think of the books as you go along in the challenge, and I do hope you will join the others in the discussions here about the books too as you finish each one let us know what you think of them! :)

And I said this on the participants thread but I wanted to say it here too... I am VERY sorry it took me so long to get back to you all and get you added to the list but everyone is on there now! This last week was crazy busy at my house and I am way behind on all my blogging.

Again I am so happy that you all found us and joined and even more for you passing the challenge on to others! I hope you enjoy the books and do come back and let us all know what you think! :)

Everyone that posted to join is welcome absolutely!!! And no it's never to late jump righ on in anytime you can. I am thinking of making this a running challenge that stays up even after this year what do you all think?

Hello everyone! I hope you all are having a great time so far with Jamie and Claire! Just a quick update to say that I just updated the participant list with all the recent signups over the holidays, and we now have 32 participants in the challenge! I want to thank all of you who have signed up and for those of you who have been pimping the challenge and promoting it on your own blogs! Many many thanks! And wish you all the best of luck! It's gonna be a long but fun ride I hope for each and every one of you. :)

The Challenge Begins

Welcome to

The Outlander Reading Challenge!

Have you always wanted to read the Outlander series but because of one thing or another you just haven't yet? Or are you like me and just want to revisit one of your favorite series again? Well it's time to take that leap through the stones my friend into the wonderful, thrilling, and passionate world of Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series!

And yes the books are much longer than most but trust me once you start them you won't be able to put them down and you will fly through them! But because they are so long this challenge is going to run for an entire year so there is plenty of time to do the challenge, and still read some other books in between as well!

The challenge begins on November the 17th and will end November 17th 2010.

The Rules:

(oh don't worry they are easy!)

1. Anytime between Nov. 17th, 2009, and Nov. 17th, 2010, read the entire Outlander series. ((You do not have to start on Nov. 17th you can start the challenge anytime in the course of the challenge you like there is not any right or wrong way to do it.)) Read Outlander through the latest book An Echo in the Bone. (Any format is acceptable - be it paperback, hardback, ebook format, or audio *the unabridged audio is best as you will miss a LOT of the stories if you get the abridged versions, but is not strictly required*.

**There is also a companion book to the series called The Outlandish Companion this is a fun and informative look at the series, but is NOT required to be read for this challenge. However if you would like to add it to your list feel more than free to do so. It is a lot of fun and there are a lot of things that Diana explains in it from her point of view think of it as a behind the scenes look at the series.**

2. Sign up here by leaving a comment to this post telling me that you would like to join. Please include your blog address as well if you would like to blog about the challenge, so that I can link to your posts. *Please note that you do not have to have a blog or website to participate.*

3. Come back and leave a post at the seperate book posts here *see the list on the right side of the blog here there is one for each book* and I will link your progress and your posts to the books as you complete each one.

4. Enjoy yourself don't stress and have fun with it! That's all there is to it now see that was pretty painless wasn't it. :)

*I am in the process of creating some pretty Outlander graphics/badges that you can post on your blog showing that you are participating. As well as some badges for each time that you complete one of the novels. Please check back soon for these!*
